Top 10 Reasons Why Women Wear Makeup
It is obvious that there must be something special and very feminine about
the use of cosmetics. Many young girls and women love using cosmetics because it
makes them feel confident as well as beautiful. There are many women who put on
makeup even when they are just sitting at home because it may set the right mood
or tone for their day. There is an art to applying it and the end result can be
amazing
The makeup and skincare
industry have always been prepared exclusively for women. It is curious for many
of us to consider why so many women feel the overwhelming need and compulsion to alter
their appearances. There are many reasons women want to wear makeup and here are
the top 10 reasons why.
10) Media Influence
No one can deny that there is an increase in realty and make over shows, in
addition to media coverage, that is exposing women to more beauty products today than
ever before. The markets involved in buying and selling beauty products are
worth billions of US dollars. Even children under 10 years of age are tuning
into shows that are geared to provide information about makeup, no wonder they
want to emulate this behavior. It is difficult to say what the exact age is when
girls begin to use beauty products but studies have found that the age has
dropped.

9) It Is Historical
Those
who are curious to know why women want to wear makeup should note that makeup is
not a recent invention. The history of wearing makeup goes back centuries,
making the love affair between women and makeup as old as history. It has
been found that women have been putting on makeup in some form since ancient
times in various types of powders, paints and other elements, both natural
as well as artificial to enhance their beauty.
For example, the ancient Egyptian women used to wear eye paint and ancient women in Greece used red iron to beautify their lips. Japanese women
adorned their faces with powder made from rice and the European women wore
powders made from chalk on their faces. It is no surprise to us that modern day
women are also fascinated with the practice that dates back in history. The use
of cosmetics has changed over the centuries with the main difference being the
concealment options of today’s makeup.

8) Cover Something
Up
It's just a nature in women to appear as alluring as possible at all times,
even in front of their husbands. They sometimes feel insecure and unattractive
when they have dark circles under their eyes or marks that show up easily after
a night of little sleep. Naturally, these spots will probably disappear once
they aren’t so tired but they apply specific makeup to hide them right away.
Women also use makeup to lighten their face and camouflage other spots, like pimples,
some scars and uneven coloring.
7) Social Acceptance
Every single individual deserves to feel good about their body and appearance.
But the sad fact, particularly for women, is that they are often judged by their
outward appearance. Developing self esteem by accepting and loving one’s own
body as well as appearance is crucial to feel happy about yourself. A great
personality can outweigh a pretty face and everyone is beautiful in some way. However,
increased peer pressure and concerns with what prospective romantic partners may
think of them can make women, especially teens, use various types of cosmetics.
Many women and young girls simply dress up as well as wear makeup to get compliments
from other women rather than men. Social acceptance, pressure and the nature
in women to want to attract others, play a vital role in the use of makeup.
6) Photo
Manipulation
Advertising companies, models and stylists are always looking for perfection in
any photo or video advertisement they create. This is in any newspaper,
magazine, billboard or commercial that you see today. How many of us know that
our favorite models probably don't have perfect skin? Yet we just want to
compare ourselves to the images of those models and try to achieve the skin of
the images we see using makeup. The advances in technology have enabled
professional photographers and stylists to apply perfect lighting, photo
retouching, as well as other tricky, innovative techniques in making our
appearances look like perfection.
5) Bonding
Experience
Wearing or experimenting with makeup for most is considered a female activity and
feminine experience. Having makeup knowledge can help women bond when they share
application tips, products and other related things with their friends, sisters,
as well as female co-workers. Many have seen how a mother is teaching her
daughter the techniques of good makeup application. This bonding experience is
long lasting and inspires memories within the mother as well as her daughter.
4) Escape Age
Many women wear makeup to look younger and some young girls to look elder than
their actual age. A woman may choose to wear makeup to make her face appear more
youthful and give her a "glow". She may gather makeup products and use them to hide early aging signs,
such as: wrinkles, sagging skin spots, blemishes and lines. Some teenagers or young ladies may use makeup to make their
appearance more mature than they really are in order to look older.
3) Look More
Unnatural/Change Personality
Wearing makeup can be extremely hilarious on occasions for some women
entertaining both themselves and others. They do not want to look like who they
are really but they want to look like a role model or someone they idol. So,
they put on makeup to
look unnatural or change their entire persona. Without
makeup they are simply the regular people who like a mini series on television,
puppies on the street and reality shows. With makeup they can be any celebrity
they want to portray, at least they can try to be,
and it is fun.
2) Boosts Confidence
Some women wear makeup to boost their confidence and the amount of makeup that a
woman wears to feel confident may vary. Studies have found that when women wear
makeup they have the impression of being more intelligent, trustworthy,
competent and confident than when they do not. However, the studies have not
shown there is proof that women without makeup can be naturally confident and
have self esteem.
A woman who looks beautiful without makeup is certainly proud of herself and
her appearance. When she decides to wear makeup, she will certainly give off a
stronger and more commanding vibe. Of course, a woman can be confident without
makeup but wearing it simply enhances her natural self esteem and serves as a
booster to her confidence.
1) Enhance Natural
Beauty
Looking pretty is the top reason that women wear makeup, they choose to wear the
makeup to enhance their natural beauty and be more glamorous. For example, some
women with stunning eyes may use eyeliner and mascara to make them more
beautiful; this calls further attention to the natural beauty of their eyes. Some
women wear makeup simply because they want to look a little different for a bit,
while others put it on to make their smile wider.
Nothing like putting on a little makeup works better to make a woman feel
prettier because wearing makeup makes them feel confident and special. That is why so
many women, even if it is just for a little time, will put on a little something
to pamper themselves and feel better. Who does not want to look beautiful and
feel special?
Final Words
Whatever reason a woman may have to wear makeup, it is important for them to
learn how to wear it properly. For many women makeup is a creative outlet,
allowing them to express themselves. It's not true that women wear makeup only
to cover up their insecurities because some feel makeup is their best friend.
Many women and young girls feel that the use of cosmetics can boost their
confidence as well as make them look more desirable to others.
